Deb @ smittenkitchen has a similar oreo type recipe. Totally worth the trouble of making them. They have less cocoa, so that taste might be less overwhelming. Also they don't have to be chilled at all.

I make these all the time, sans the cream. I love to add chocolate chips once I've creamed the butter, egg, vanilla and sugars mixture together. Then I add the semi sweet chips followed by the final blended powdered ingredients. They make a great double chocolate chip cookie. Adding white choc chips also makes a lovely double chocolate cookie.

I also just make them drop cookies and once mixed I immediately bake them. My friends eat them in one sitting.

I quite enjoy the MS Baking Handbook. You can shift the recipes to suit you, but they are solidly delicious with no changes. I'm very impressed.

Thanks for putting the recipe online. I'm away from home and needed the recipe asap for tonight.

I like your time saving method... Bossy 'ole cookbooks anyway! That will show them who is doing the baking in your kitchen.
Good on you.

Nice save on that one. They look really good, but I'm with you, a lot of labor to make Oreos really isn't worth it!
