tart noire

Sometimes I wish I was one of those people who didn’t like rich desserts. I think it would keep me from eating a lot of rich desserts.

But I am not. I’m prudent enough to cut myself only a modest slice, but not prudent enough to not cut myself another and another modest slice. Never mind that what I’m eating is nothing but a mixture of chocolate, cream, and butter spread over a big cookie.

On the plus side, at least I get to enjoy rich desserts. Because missing out on a mixture of chocolate, cream, and butter spread over a big cookie would be a shame.

Dharmagirl chose this tart for Tuesdays with Dorie, and she has the recipe posted.

  1. I love those chocolate squares – what kind??? A slice here, there… who’s counting? This is worth it – glad you enjoyed it and it truly looks worth all the “effort” and hard work! 🙂 Simply decadent!

  2. wonderful texture – so even and smooth. great job!

  3. Shame indeed! Why wouldn’t you want to eat chocolate, cream and butter over a large cookie? Why, it sounds perfect to me! I enjoy rich desserts but my tummy doesn’t let me have too much 🙁 Plus my sweet tooth is nearly nonexistent. I halve the sugar in a lot of recipes.

  4. Wow, looks fantastic! Yet another Dorie recipe I would have probably missed without TWD due to lack of pictures, but now I’ll definitely make it. Yum!

  5. it would be a shame to miss out on this!

  6. Love the description. Chocolate cream butter on a big cookie. That makes this simple but elegant dessert sound almost too simple. But it was rich and delicious.

  7. You know, I used to envy those “too rich” people – but sometimes I do feel bad for them! They’re totally missing out.

  8. Did you watch Top Chef last night? Maybe it was the re-run from last week actually where the had to make a pie? One of the chefs (Kelly maybe is that her name??) made a chocolate tart and I was drooling over it!

  9. I totally hear you on this. I would enjoy eating fewer rich desserts, but then I’m pretty sure I’d be missing out. Those people who are all “oh my, I can only eat one bite, it’s soooo rich”? I think they’re aliens.

  10. I can barely formulate the words for this comment because I keep scrolling back up to the photos and my head fills with, “Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.” That’s one of the reasons I rarely have chocolate in the house or make chocolate desserts; bad things would happen (mostly to my thighs).

  11. I wouldn’t even wish to not enjoy rich desserts. It’d be a sin. This looks THAT good!

  12. OHMYGOSH, this looks UHMAAAAAAAZING. :-9
